Pope dead?

Searching for confirmation of the popes death, which we heard about on an office radio, and via [livejournal.com profile] planetconcrete's LJ entry.

Reuters.com is reporting that there is conflicting Italia Media reports on the Pope's health

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Italian media gave contradictory reports about Pope John Paul's vital signs on Friday, first saying his heart and brain activity had stopped and then reporting this was not true.

There was no official comment from the Vatican.

The first reports, picked up by the state broadcaster RAI, said his electrocardiogram had gone flat. The ADNkronos news agency said monitoring showed his brain activity had halted.

But Sky Italia television later quoted Vatican sources saying both his brain and heart were still functioning.

All the other news sites I've visited are only reporting worsening health.

He's not gone? We're not praying hard enough, obviously.

I'm going straight to hell for that one, I'm sure.

He's not dead. He's just resting.

His heart stopped working a long time ago...

From what I heard on NPR, when he passes, Vatican Radio will stop playing music/chants/prayers and most of the press corp will receive a test message alerting them they have receive a new email. From there, it will be an (almost) instantaneous domino effect to the rest of the world.
