Series 3 is finally released!

Looks like TIVO has finally released the TiVo HD, aka Series 3 TIVO!

Sadly, according to the Series 3 FAQ, TiVoToGo and Multi-Room viewing are not enabled in this release, because of the HD content.

I think I am going to wait a bit longer before getting one. The multiroom viewing and TiVoToGo features were what made this more interesting than the current Time Warner DVR that we already have. I should wait and see what Comcast is going to be coming out with after their announcement about partnering wiht TIVO.

iTV

Apple just announced an upcoming product, currently code-names iTV.

I think it's interesting that Apple made this announcement on the same day that TiVO finally released the Series 3.

I'm willing to wait until iTV is released. Apple trumps TiVO, of course!

iPod

Ok, I'm a little disappointed that Apple hasn't released Coro Duo 2 MacBook Pros yet. I was kind of hoping that they would announce them today, but the iPod and iTunes hogged all the attention, with a little bit about iTV.

I downloaded iTune 7 on my Mac here and it does seem a bit nicer. I won't be able to really play with it until I upgrade my main iTunes installation at home.

One thing I'm really looking forward to tonight is upgrading the firmware on my iPod to allow gapless song play. This means that I no longer have to hear that little gap between songs. Usually this isn't a big deal, but there are several albums that I have that are designed to be played with out the gap. This is especially true of concert albums.
