The new cube

In my pale attempt to entertain minnehaha, I am writing this short LJ entry to report that my move from my old cube in the engineering building to my new cube in the HQ building is now complete. I still have some unpacking to do for general department resources, but my own crap is done.

As you can see in my previous entry, I have a lovely view out the windows in front of my cube. I expect that when Spring comes, much of my view will be blocked by the leaves on the tree.

I'm going to miss being in the engineering building. It was nice to be out of the convenient reach of all the big-wigs in the HQ building. Sure, they could call over, or even drive over... but they couldn't just drop by my cube on the way to the lunch room. Oh well. I may be loosing a bit of freedom through obscurity, but I'm gaining my own convenient access to the lunch room. I guess it all evens out in the end.

Another case of good and bad is that while I now have a lovely window view, I'm now seated away from the rest of my department. Well, not totally away... just at the end of an L configuration. In the engineering building, we were all together on two sides of one row, so I saw everyones comings and goings. I'll have to re-adjust to less social stimulus now. But on the good side again, this may be nice for focusing on projects, oh... and for day dreaming while staring out my windows.
