Post Con / Pre-plane entry
Aug. 27th, 2006 02:55 pmWe're at the airport now. It took about and hour and a half on the Super Shuttle. We were the fortunate first pickups, which meant good seating, but also a lovely tour of Anaheim hotels. (Why is Anaheim in my Mobile Outlook's spell checker already?)
There was no line at the Northwest check-in counter, and a pretty light queue for security. Now we are sitting at Wolff Gang Pucks Express waiting for our pizzas.
I'm having the typical post con blahs, which I guess means this was a good con. We're taking tomorrow off to re-acclimate, and to maybe get through our DVR'ed shows.
Ok, done with the pizzas now, and I'm sitting at our gate while Joe walks around. We had planned to find an outlet and watch some tv shows on my iPod, but it always seems that the outlets are either no where near seats, or there are already people, typically without things to plug-in, already sitting in the nearby seats.
I want to give big thanks to JT and Adam for putting us up last weekend when we first got here to LA, and to FJ and Dean for showing us around and going out to dinner with us last Sunday. Wow... It's already been a week. Last week at this time, we were swimming in the ocean at Venice Beach.
I do kind of regret not being up for a second day at Disneyland. We'd intended to go back, and we even bought a two day park hopper pass, but I was to exhausted after spending last Tuesday there. Thankfully Andy and David bought our second day pass from us.
The people and experiences at Worldcon often inspire me to rekindle my creative spirit. I want to write fiction again, I want to draw again. But I say this a lot. I'm not likely to turn around and write the next Hugo winner novelette, but I should just try to write a little.
Joe and I were talking yesterday about maybe starting a writers group. One thing I really like from my old literary classes was when were given newspaper clips and then told to write a story around that. Joe and I also talked about doing group world building, and then each group member would write somewhere within that world.
What do people usually do in writers groups?
I'm also going to try and start going through my digital photos to select pictures to print and frame.
Well, there are a lot of things I can do, but the point is to find some way to carry Worldcon's inspiration forward with me, without driving me self crazy with stress because of somekind of self imposed deadlines. It will happen when it happens.
Well, I better call my folks now. Our plane is here, so we'll be boarding within the next half hour.
