Goodbye, Tammy Faye
Jul. 23rd, 2007 10:39 amWow! I thought at least one of you on LJ would have posted that Tammy Faye died on Friday. It was strange... I just did a quick scan of Startribune.com and CNN.com an neither site mentioned her death either.
I don't know if it was just spin control or what, but I've come to have a good opinion of the former Mrs. Baker. I guess the "Eyes of Tammy Faye" went a long way towards reforming her public image from that of mascara streaked televangelist / jilted wife of an embezzling husband to that of a crazy eccentric God loving (rather than fearing) woman, who had an excessive fondness of makeup. In my view, she was a devoutly religious woman who had a real personal relationship with her view of God, and she tried to share the joy that she received from that relationship with everyone else in her life. I admire anyone has the strength of character to withstand as much criticism and grief that this woman received.
I never met Tammy Faye. I've never read her book(s) or really followed her life more than the occasional news blurb, movie, or visit to her website. My view of her could be completely fake, but I prefer to think that she was a really nice gal.
