Stop wasting time!
Mar. 8th, 2006 12:41 pmI need a little program on my computer that will virtually slap my hand when ever I start wasting time surfing the internet or reading Live Journal.
"What are you doing, Andrew. Get back to work! Don't you have a deadline coming up? Your to-do list isn't getting shorter by itself, you know!"
I'm horrible with personal time management sometimes. Sure... once in a while I'm great. And yeah, I do work well under pressure... maybe even better than normal. But there are still so many things that I want to do that just aren't getting done. I STILL haven't put together my sister's wedding album yet. Ugh. I have to put together a website for a as-yet unannounced 2007 leather conference, and the power web master at Diversicon has been waiting weeks for me to get the website FTP information to him.
I have been getting a lot done at work this past couple of weeks, but thats mostly because of squeaky wheels (they get the grease, you know!). They were emergency short-deadline projects. After the recent reduction in force at my company, I've now been assigned to handling in house print projects. This is mostly small projects, like ads and flyers, and the occasionally minor change to large documents. Thank god that I'm not laying out some of these catalogs.
That's one of the things that's kind of sucking about my job right now... though I'm kind of enjoying it at the same time. It's been 5 years since I did much print work. I've laid out the occasional convention book for local cons, but nothing beyond those one shot projects. Now I'm in Quark every day... and I don't even have it on my machine. I have to go over to the computer that belonged to the guy that got RIF'ed.
Ok... stop wasting time, Andrew. The longer you wait, the more project you'll have on your list.
