I need help finding some images of women who look bad as a result of tanning since they were teens. My coworker's 19 year old daughter is a summer life guard. I asked my coworker if the daughter covers up at all, and she no... its all about the tan. She wants me to find pictures to show the daughter. Initially she wanted pictures of 60 year old women... but I thought it would be better to show 30 or 40 year old women, because 30 isn't really so far away for a 19 year old.

Anyone got any good pictures? And by good, I don't mean sexy. I mean wrinkled! And what ever bad things can come from tanning.

I did Google it.. that's the first thing I always do.

All I found was text talking about the effects of tanning, not much in the way of people pictures.

So, tell me... is this a bad idea? Is it insulting? What?

It's the kind of thing that doesn't matter if it's insulting it's important to at least try to open her eyes to what she is doing to the future health of her skin. She's young enough that that kind of perspective is still hard to completely wrap your brain around you get it but you don't.

You're a good person. I'm just sayin'.

Ok... you sayin' that because this is a good idea, or a bad and insulting idea?

I'm saying it because you showed concern for someone who (it appears from your post) is a somewhat peripheral acquaintance, and are now spending some time and trouble to try to spare her future harm. Not everyone would do that.

I'm not really sure what you're asking. I can't parse what you're doing as potentially bad or insulting, though nothing should surprise me anymore and I shouldn't be surprised if someone would see it that way. I would be surprised, but shouldn't be, by now.

I need ten minutes with her to show her the age spots I started getting at 33. 33! And I hadn't gone out in the sun without SPF 30 for at least 3 years by then. All because of the damage done when I was kid growing up in Colombia till I was 9 and tanning 3 weeks a year after that.

But screw aging, her real problem is what I am worried now: she is setting herself up for death: http://familydoctor.org/159.xml

Try doing additional image searches for "skin cancer".

Look up "melanoma." My ex-bf has periodic bouts with it, and has had to have skin removed from his nose (as well as other parts of his body).
