A 70's kind of weekend

We just had a pretty busy weekend! On Friday I got to watch 70 minutes alone while watching a romantic, I spent part of Saturday 70 feet under Wisconsin, then I spent Sunday afternoon with a nearly 70-year-old man.
Friday night Joe and I tried to have a poorly planned date night. Joe ended up working late, and had a long call with his Mom, so we didn't get out early enough for a relaxed dinner. So we had a quick dinner at Wendy's (had a really nice bowl of Chili though!), then headed over to the Eagan Regal and saw "Must Love Dogs." Well, I saw it. About a quarter of the way in Joe got a work call that he had to take. He finally came back into the theater as the closing credits finished. (I secretly think he went to see a different movie!). I enjoyed the movie, and I had fun trying to explain it to Joe on the drive home. After the movie we stayed up for another hour or two to watch a couple of the SciFi channel Friday shows.
Saturday afternoon Joe and I got up early and, along with our friends Bill and Pete, we drove over to Spring Valley Wisconsin to join up with a bunch of other Couples Twin Cities members to tour the Crystal Cave. The cave wasn't as fantastic is I imagined, but it was still pretty fun. I'd failed to read all of the information on their website, so I didn't dress appropriately for how cold it can get in the cave. Some of our friends warned me so I bought a Crystal Caves hooded sweatshirt in the gift shop.

After the cave tour we hung around outside the gift shop for a while, then 16 of us (8 couples) stopped at a near bye A&W Root beer resteraunt. It was a nice chance to chat with two couples that I've never met before.
After getting back to Minneapolis, we went home and rested for a while. I actually napped for a couples hours. Refreshed, we picked up a couple pizzas at Pizza Luce and headed back over to Bill & Pete for an evening of pizza, hand & foot (card game), and talking about plans for taking another cruise vacation (see my other post about our thoughts on cruises).
Sunday started surprisingly early. For some unknown reason I woke up at 8:30 a.m. instead of the much more preferable 10 a.m. We put the morning to good use, then we headed out for my Dad's 70th birthday party. On the way over to my folks, we picked up a bunch of balloons and streamers to decorate the house and yard. We had a very nice time with my folks and their friends. I think about 50-60 people came by. My folks had the party catered by their friend Georgia from Cafe 421, so the food was fantastic. There was plenty of food left, so I'm sure that we will all be eating it for a while.
