It really is a shame that we don't tend to partake of the fine New Orleans dining. We tend to skip breakfast here, and then do po boys for lunch. And then for dinner we just find something fast, like Clover Grill or Moonwok (Chinese) for dinner because we typically nap, then have a drink, and finaly get so hungry that we can't wait for fine dining.

We are thinking of either his Petunia's for brunch tomorrow, or maybe Court of Two Sisters.

We went to the 1pm parade today, but we didn't do so well on the beads today. So, we gave up and skipped the 2pm parade (remember that these parades actually run 1 to 1.5 hours late). Then I napped, followed by meeting a local friend for a drink at the Burbon Street Pup. Now we're at Moonwok for dinner.

For fine dining without pretense, you might try Bayona. I was there in 2004 and loved it.

I would recommend both Petunias and Two Sisters. I have also enjoyed Pere Antoine, which is deeper in the Quarter. Breakfast at Brennen's is ridiculously overpriced, but quite the experience. Have you found the GLBT bookstore yet?

Petunia's was one of our regular places so it was especially disappointing when the food and service were barely adequate on this trip. I am very fond of Two Sisters, but we didn't make it this time around. Our best shot for it would have been Friday afternoon, but it was closed for a private function (I think associated with the Krewe of Cork). Yes, we did stop at the bookstore - I make of supporting GLBT bookstores when we travel - sadly this shop seems in sadder shape on every visit.

There used to be a mediteranean place just off the quarter on Frenchmen (I think) called Mona Lisa's. If you like lamb/gryos/hummus, check it out.

If its not there any more, let me know so I can cry!
