After Joe make a very nice, though very filling, anniversary dinner, we headed over to HOM furniture to meet with Linda, our Design Consultant" at HOM furniture.

We met Linda when we stopped at HOM on Saturday. We were just looking around at furniture when I thought to ask a sales person if there was any kind of design consultation service there. Turns out they have this service where the consultant will talk with you about colors and styles, and then come to your home to measure rooms and talk with you more about how you use your space. Linda came to the house on Sunday and spent a lot of time just going from room to room with us.

Last night Linda showed us everything that she thought would work well for us. All-in-all she did pretty good, though there were a couple complete misses and a few things that only one or the other of us liked. We spent over three hours looking a rugs and furniture.

Many of the items she showed us aren't online, but a few are, so I've listed them below.

Living Room
Paint: Devine-Cabernet on the wall behind the sofa, other walls Devine-Honey
We already have a fairly new sofa that we really like, it is a gray and brown sofa that's very comfortable. We also have an old wooden rocker with cushions we're going to reupholster. The second chair in the room is a more modern looking chair with flared arms, that we would upholster in this deep red textured stripe fabric.

Hammary Catillion Oval Cocktail Table

Dining Room
Paint: Devine-Honey or Devine-Filbert
We currently have a dark green carpet in the room that came with the house. This carpet shows every single dog hair, so we'd like to go with something textured. Linda is suggesting the carpet could be "Cabernet" color background w/print. We would only need a 12x12 remnant since the room is so small.
Table - We both like this one. In fact, she actually showed this to us on Saturday, and we still like it.

Kitchen:
Paint: Paint south wall Devine-Date, carry Devine-Date through the gallery area

Gallery:
Paint: Devine-Date and/or Devine-Georgette
We need a 6" round area rug for this room. I liked the one that she showed us, but we were afraid of the fringe on the rug. We're concerned that our OCD dog will go nuts with those. But maybe we could make that work.

Loft (TV room)
Paint: Devine-Filbert
Besides the glider chair listed below, we were also taking about a second swivel chair. Initially Linda found a cute little cup chair, that would probably work. When we were talking around the store, we also spotted this interesting yellow, gold, red striped swivel rockers that he been a custom order return.
Harmony Glider And Ottoman Set
Reclining Sofa (The web page say its stocked in deep chocolate brown, though the stock item we saw at the store was a lighter yellow/tan)
Chadwick Lamp Table (round)

Home Theater
I hate the sofa that we are currently using in the theater. I actually like the look of it, but I find if very uncomfortable for watching an entire movie. I like the idea of theater recliners.

From what I recall of your house, this new plan removes at least 50% of the book cases in these two rooms. If I recall, there were two (three?) book cases in the living room, and two more up in the loft. With this plan there are only the two in the loft. Where will those books go?

The bookshelves are still there, they just aren't labeled. The are the two rectangles flanking the window.

Linda's original thought had been to move the two living room bookshelves to the loft. But it just so happens that we have two more of those bookshelves in other places in the house, so our thought is to use those in the loft instead.

I see...I was led astray by the fact that the ones in the loft are labeled. I was just having trouble imagining a fan redesigning a space so as to have less space for books.

Ha! Our books give us away, don't they. And the books that you saw out aren't even all the books that we have. A lot of the books didn't make it back out of boxes when we moved.

The doors of the corner unit are hitting the bookcases?

My two cents at no cost to you.....

Personally not such a fan of two strongly contrasting colors in a room. I think this works better in like your kitchen area where the space is more open. I personally think colors that blend work better then strongly contracting ones.
both tables are nice but seem like very different styles to me. and seem expensive for what they are.

Filbert.
Cabernet as in red wine color? Definately a print.
Table nice. good price. No matching hutch?
Hard to see that devine date actually has any color to it from this.
Georgette nice. no fringe, gets dirty and frayed beside the ocd dog. and comes undone.
Doesn't show glidder and ottoman
Reclining sofa prefer chocolate brown. also good price for a leather sofa.
Nice table, good price.
reclining theater coach nice chairs not crazy about again the contrating colors.
