Tonight's trip to Warner Stallion and Best Buy resulted in the following items to research:

Whirlpool - Cabrio 4.5 Cu. Ft. 11-Cycle Super Capacity Plus Washer - White

This one is interesting because it's a high efficincy top loader, rated about the same as front loaders. If we go with a top loader, we will have to remove the lower wire shelf above the washer and dryer to allow the washer lid to open.

LG - 4.0 Cu. Ft. 7-Cycle Extra-Large Capacity Washer - White

This was the recommended front loader at Best Buy. Due to the unfortunate placement of the laundry sink in front of where the washer goes, we would be unable to fully open the door. This is already a problem with our old front loader, which isn't as deep and has a smaller door. To use this, or really any current front loading washer that is large enough to wash a king size comforter, we would either have to move the washer and dryer further away from the sink, or change the orignation of the units by stacking them next to the sink. To stack them, we would have to completely remove the wire shelves.

I recommend matching, gas, high efficiency, one or two down from top of the line. I got top of the line the first time, at my old house, and thought the jet engine was going to shake my house apart. Proper balancing is important.

The LG set is very similar to the ones we have. I've had the for three years and they've been great.

Consumer Reports gives a very high rating to both. The energy efficiency may offset the higher cost.
