Wow... HOURCAR seems like a very cool idea.
This is a new Twin Cities service that allows people to join a car-share program. Member pay a $150 one-time application fee, the monthly charges of $5 with a car usage fee of $6.95 an hour and 45 cents a mile (or value plan is $20 a month, then $4.95 and hour and 39 cents a mile). They have car hubs in Uptown, near downtown Minneapolis, and two in downtown Saint Paul. And a really nice touch is that all of the cars are Toyota Priuses (no wonder I couldn't buy one!).
I would love to take advantage of this program, if I didn't already have my own fairly new car, and if I lived anywhere near one of the hubs. I think that if we ever move, I'll really consider public transport for where I want us to live. (Yes, I have buses near our house, but they aren't as cool as LRT!)
