Comics money

I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to stop collecting comics or not. With Hot Comics discontinuing their subscriber discount program, I'm not sure if I'm willing to purchase comics without that 15% discount.

In an effort to make this decision, I examined my 2007 statements to see how much I spent on comics in a years time. The total amount was $1869.27. Ouch. And that's WITH the 15% discount. It would have been $2149.66 without the discount.

I could go to a different comic shop, but I expect that the extra gas spent driving might outweigh the savings of their discount.

Hot Comics update

Ok... I just talked with Bob, the owner of Hot Comics. He talked about how much the discounts cost them last year. He's owned the store for about two years now, and has yet to turn a profit. Their sales have gone way up, especially thanks to Shinders closing, but for some reason still no profit.

I think I'm going to keep buying from Hot Comics for now, not really because I feel the overwhelming need to buy comics, but because I want to continue supporting Bob's shop.

Oh, and I'm trying to get him interested in Gaylaxicon.

Watching American Idol...
