So long, CNN.

Right now the front page of CNN.com has the still from a video that Virgina Tech killer Cho Seung-Hui sent to NBC. The image is a still from the video that shows Cho pointing a gun directly at the camera.
I find this image to be incredibly disturbing, and I'm appalled that CNN.com has chosen to show this image right on their front page. No, I have not watched the video and I never will. I'm so disgusted by CNN.com's choice to use this image that I'm writing to CNN to tell them that I won't be watching their channels or visiting their website for the next three months.
Do the same. Let them know that images of violence are not acceptable. I'd rather see page three girls on the cover of every website than any more images of destruction.
(Why three months? Because I never say never. Three months seems like a reasonable amount of time for a protest boycot. If they do it again, then I'll avoid them for another three months, again and again.)

"....This sort of display is pandering to the basest, most exhibitionistic instincts and does nothing to bolster our public dialog or inform your audience. It is repulsive and shows poor judgment of the most offensive sort.
.... It is my sincere hope that you will reconsider your editorial policies and refrain from this type of vulgarity in future."
Thank you for your attention.

Date: 2007-04-19 03:39 pm (UTC)As for having the picture as the cover story on nearly every media outlet, I can't see that as anything but sensationalism to "sell papers" (of the virtual kind these days) and is completely disgusting.
