Run, Moderately Fit Boy, Run!
Apr. 10th, 2008 10:11 amYesterday afternoon my trainer called in sick, so I went and did my on-paper routine by myself last night. The paper routine is what I'm building so that I can work out sans-trainer. When I'm with the trainer he has me warm up with various forms of jumping/leaping/vaulting. It's quite invigorating, but if I'm not in a good mood I hate it.
Since I was on my own last night, and the elliptical trainers were all full, I warmed up on the treadmill. I haven't stepped foot on a treadmill for about two years. As a kid I loved to run, but I never had the endurance to do it for long. Over the past few years, I've been building my general endurance. I usually do 45 - 60 minutes on the elliptical trainers, but these are really different beasts than actual running.
Since I was only warming up last night I started with a brisk walk, then transitioned to an honest run which I maintained for about 3 minutes. I was definitely warmed up by that point, but I wasn't wheezing or clutching my sides, so that was good.
I have it somewhere in my head that I'd like to incorporate more running into my life. It's one of those things I can do anywhere without special equipment.
Of course,
rvrjoe775 is going to think that I'm only thinking this because we just saw Run Fat Boy Run on Sunday. No, I was already thinking about running, but the movie did inspire me a little bit more. Maybe if I run I'll be able to get my wife back! Oh, wait... that's the movie. I don't have a wife.
