Ugh.

So, I'm listening to bTalk podcast #15 right now and I'm getting a little angry.

After hearing the great interview with dangerdhotrod, one of the hosts, Shannon I think, who works at the Eagle/Bolt, tells a story about a patron who was found passed out and drunk in the Bolt bathroom one night. What I'm angry about is that he uses the guy's real first name. I know this guy, and I'm not very fond of him, but I don't think he deserves to be laughed at on their podcast show.

How about they talk about the bars irresponsibility for serving this guy? What ever happened to bar tenders cutting of the drunk patrons?

Grrr.

you should send them a message! i think they are aware of trying to keep people anonymous and probably didn't think that first name would 'out' anybody. also i don't think it was about laughing at him, it was about shannon telling the horrors of his job. after working there, i totally understand the need for dishing on some of the unbelievable crap that goes on there. and it's almost always the bathroom!

i think they also did talk about bars cutting people off and stuff although i don't know if that made the cut for the show. but it's hard to blame the bar when the person is maybe already wasted and covers their behavior well until the breaking point. there's lots of drunks that don't look drunk until they pass out. or something clicks and their personalities turn. or maybe they're kind of drunk and they go outside and smoke some grass or something and that gets them super messed up. there's really no stopping someone who wants to get wasted.

anyway, you should send them a message telling them that so that they think about it in the future, because they are trying to be good i think.

Yeah, I did send them an e-mail. I'm not going to bitch about it in my LJ if I haven't already contacted them directly.

I guess what just made it worse for me is that I heard about this guys "accident" through other channels. We have some friends in common who had heard that something happened, and they were really concerned for the guy. Like I said, the guy is pretty messed up, and he is a huge danger to himself.

People that work in bars have lots of stories.

However, they don't usually tell the stories that could show negligence on the part of the bar. Nor do they usually give out names.

Just as devil's advocate, there could be other reasons the guy is passed out, but the most likely answer is alcohol intoxication.
